Sri Jayanthi Kumaraswami’s Earth Day Message of Unity

“If we don’t eat the types of food your body requires, our bodies find a way to expel the unwanted matter and we face illness. Similarly, when the earth is contaminated, it reacts in the form of natural disasters. The troubles given to Earth by man return in the form of natural calamities. Our anger, thirst and desires are all caused and depend on the level of heat in our bodies. In the same way, atmospheric warming is rising.

Humans must change to minimize the risks caused by atmospheric warming. If you don’t want to change after seeing all the disasters and diseases around us, then the things that are happening around you would force you to change. You should not expect others to bring change in you. Change should be your initiative.

The first step, as I always say, is to be calm and composed. You can understand any matter when your mind is calm.

Secondly, you must let others around you to live in the same way as you expect to live. When you want to live and need the comforts of life, you should know that others also have the same right. You should have a mind that ensures the same level of comfort to each and everything around you.

Thirdly, be without ego and fury. Have you shown any initiative to protect the people and preserve the nature around you? I always remind you that the supreme force that moves this world is within every soul. We are one. Even though we are different people, we all have things in common like food, desires, passion and blood.

We can use the same heat which caused global warming to save this world. Then the heat will be enjoyable like heat in the winter which brings comfort. The same energy used to destroy the earth should be changed to unite humanity and protect the earth. The five elements were united and the world was created. In the same way, these five elements must be controlled. The universe was born when all the planets were united but changes came into existence when all planets fell apart.

All powers of this world must unite now and forego enmity. There must be a unity of minds. As ants go in sequence, one behind the other to their nests, likewise man should work together to protect the Earth. Everyone knows the solutions to prevent the destruction of the Earth but people are not united to effect change. The solution is in your hands. Without enmity, with a definite plan of action, you can save this World from chaos. For this, we all must prepare our minds to make sacrifices. Sri Rama’s sacrifice in renouncing the princely life gave humanity the Ramayana. Similarly was the sacrifice of the Son of God; Jesus, and the same sacrifice of The Prophet Mohammed of Islam. When you see every religion in the world, you will notice the sacrifice as a beacon enabling us to live peacefully.

I am ready for the war-

A war not for destruction but for creation.

A war to produce.

To safeguard this world, to safeguard everything that exists. The war for virtue should begin.

Let a delightful, spiritual war begin.

Do not see this fight as meaningless.

This fight is to protect this Yuga.

Let this great fight bring the Maha Sathya Yugam.”
