Thoughts on Oneness from Her Holiness Sri Jayanthi Kumaraswami:

The Supreme Force has indeed become the World. Let this World become fertile, prosper, stand eternally and shine forth.” – Sri Jayanthi Kumaraswami
We can only achieve true prosperity through Oneness. Everyone should understand what Oneness is. All babies come from their mother’s womb. Never has a mother given birth in another method. The concept of Oneness started in this way. The Sun gives light to the entire World. This one Sun brings light to all of Humanity. The Sun never discriminates between religions, races, class or socioeconomic status. God is One and all of creation is not separate from that One. But we have forgotten this truth. A Supreme Force that moves this World is omnipresent in every soul. To know Oneness is to know who you are.
To inspire Oneness and achieve prosperity, you have to let others around you to live in the same way you expect yourself to live. We need three main tools to do so. The three tools of unity are understanding, acceptance and adjustment. Even though there are different people, we all have things in common; food, desires, passion, and blood. When you want to live and enjoy the comforts of life, you should know that others also have the same right to get their needs and comfort for living. You should have the mind that ensures the same level of comfort to each and everything around you.
Love, protection and support are the roots of a Human society. A man needs all three. When a man shows these, human society will prosper. As the ants go in sequence one behind the other to build their nest, likewise humans should support each other to protect this society and this Yuga. We can prevent any disaster through a unity of minds. Do not think of the change in form. Do not think of the change of body. Think only of the change of mind and proceed with life.
The Quran of Islam, the Bible of the Christians, and Hindu’s way of life, all encourage unity. Think of the day when we all can unite. Only unity can bring prosperity. Let me remind you that the great Universe was born only when all planets united. When the planets fell apart, changes came into existence.
Firstly, to protect yourself, you have to be calm and composed. When the water is still, you can see your reflection on the surface. When the water is disturbed, your reflection is not clear. Likewise, in this calmness of mind you can see thousands of matters. To get this clarity, we need two important tools. One is proper decision-making and the other is presence of mind. These are like the two blinds on the horse’s eyes. We can achieve anything in our lives with these two important tools. Lack of proper decision making leads to negative thoughts due to failures in family affairs, at the workplace, in education or in other relationships. Many people are very depressed and this lead to suicide. This is because people do not know how to make proper decisions. When we are suffering, we should know what our next step is. Presence of mind is having the wisdom to leave from the suffering and move on.
This is the simple step to inspire Oneness and achieve prosperity. All people of this World should unite and get into the act of praying- a prayer that has one thinking and one action. This prayer is primarily to put forth our demands unitedly, to move from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
